Visiting the Valley

Just been out on this delightful early May day for a trip round the wonderful countryside of the Ribble Valley, which is in my opinion one of the loveliest areas of the country. The fact that I live here should matter not one iota!

Went up to Clitheroe (the main town) to get some shopping and then after that we made a visit to Waddington, where I entered the Waddington Arms and had a pint of Bowland's Sawley Tempted. It was a beautiful, slightly bitter, clear ale - so clear you could almost see your face in it. Wonderfully refreshing. We then decided to take another look round the picturesque village of Waddington. It's a delightful place and if I didn't live where I live now I'd seriously consider living there. There's not a lot there to do but walking around in the sun was a wonderful treat.

On, then, to Bowland Brewery at Bashall Eaves. I visited the brewery, saw the shop and considered buying some beer. How lovely to think that what I drank earlier came from a few miles down the road! We bought some cheese from the pretty farm shop and left for home.

And that was my afternoon and such a lovely time I did have! Pity I didn't take my camera but there's always other times for that.

It looks like you had a wonderful time. The words that you've typed have brought images to my Mind's Eye. I can imagine that everything's nice and green. Were there lots of gardens? What's the name of that beer? I'm glad you had fun.

Lusciously green, yes. And I mentioned the name of the ale: Sawley Tempted by Bowland. They have a website (http://www.bowlandbrewery.com/). I even saw some beer being made while looking at a five litre mini-cask of Sawley Tempted in the farm shop.

And that beer won a Silver Medal, as well.
