I've been off the road for a while but now have a car of my own, on the road and no problems with it. I'm so free but I'd forgotten how many stupid drivers' there are on the roads. Braking before indicating, or not indicating all together, or taking too long to move on a green light so that you don't have time to make it through the lights yourself. Then there are those slow and stupidly cautious drivers who spit stones on your windscreen from the far left of their lane as you approach to overtake their slow arse. But then I was thinking: "I am regarding these drivers as stupid people but really it just that they drive in a stupid fashion. Maybe they weren't brought up with racing car drivers and motorcycle riders, and mechanics so aren't aware of how their driving skills would be considered unacceptable amongst my own kind. I suppose it's the institution, though. I mean we had campaigning for this 'Wipe Off 5' initiative which sought to reduce accidents but there became this flood of drivers doing 95, or even 90 (after the suggestion that everyone wipe off an additional 5km), on the roads it was ridiculous. If times weren't so harsh with legalities such people (along with moronic cyclists using the roads) wouldn't survive very long because someone would inevitably overtake them in a dangerous situation and would be involved in a head and side on collision... Methinks.

Many Wrong Planet members have posted that they are bad at driving

"Stupid people"?

The IQ test does not contain a driving portion

Driving involves the visual spatial, kinesthetic and interpersonal and interpersonal intelligence

But everything involves some sort of intelligence

It's not that a particular driver is "stupid" or "smart". Its that, at that time, a driver did something that you deemed "stupid"

Sometimes someone is not thinking clearly

You can't assess someone's IQ score based on a couple seconds of driving

But having said that, maybe IQ score is overvalued by society

Some people are smarter at taking IQ tests than others

That does not make them morally superior

IQ is a job skill. Stupidity is not a choice or a crime

IQ is nature versus nurture

IQ is not a moral value

Someone with a high IQ score is not morally superior to someone with a low IQ score

Just like

Someone with a high bench press is not morally superior to someone with a low bench press

:D

"Stupid" is used as an insult, but Dualism

Nobody can be "smart" unless someone is "stupid"

:skull:

but some people are pridefully stupid and conscientiously ignorant and joyously rude about it. what to do about them other than giving them a wide berth?

Stupidity is a weakness that's despised and which needs to be eradicated.
