My dad is mad that my sister is going to the potlatch

My sister helped out last year. My dad didn't seem to care last year. This year he's mad that my sister chose the natives over him. Could this be because I got 27% Native American on 23andme?

Personally, I'd thoroughly enjoy a genuine potlatch (if I could pass as Salish), although matching the quantity and quality of the gifts may be a little beyond my talents.
