Don't you hate it when you're going out somewhere and people ask you this question? "When will you be back? Give me an exact time." Maybe I don't know exactly what time I'll be back. I could be back in an hour. I could be back in five. I'll get back when I finish doing what I set out to do. I don't know how long that will take.

This happens to me every time I go somewhere. Today I went out to go to the library and then the gym, and the staff person at my group home demanded that I give her a return time. Why do they need to know? Obviously I'll be back in time to take my meds. Why do you need anything more than that?

The staff need to know your approximate expected return time so that they know whether or not you're late or missing. If you said you'd be back between 3-5pm and didn't show up by 6 or 7 or whatever, then they may get worried and start taking action to locate you, or report you missing etc. With no return time how are they supposed to know when to be concerned you're not there? It's likely simply a matter of a safety protocol they must follow vs. them trying to be nosey about when and where you're doing what.

I was going to post something like that.

It doesn't bother me when people ask me when I'll be back. I'm an Aspie who loves routines & predictability & before I leave I like to plan where I'll go & an estimate for how long things will take.

When I lived in a home I had a quite predictable coming and going time, usually between lunchtime and suppertime. I am a nerd and a slave to routine.

But now that I live on my own I don't have to tell anyone where I'm going and when I'll be back, because obviously there's no one to tell it to, so I may have gotten sloppy. I might have supper at 5 PM, or I might put it off until 7 PM. I'm the only eating it and it will still be good no matter what the time is.

lol sometimes I think it might be a good thing to have to check in by some curfew time or another.. instead I occasionally go to all night parties where I don't get home until the next night! lol.. the best/worst was when I was going to go to One party on a Friday night and then ended up party hopping all weekend and got home Monday morning .. when I had to work Monday morning lololol.

Hell, this past weekend I was out late late.. got home at 4am or so and had to get up at 6:20am for work.. went to work, made it through the day, then went to the beach, had a few drinks etc and then grabbed food on the way home.. got home at midnight. Worked today, beach drinks with friends, errands, home 10pm, midnight now and just finishing one too many beers lol and time for zzzzzzz.... I really should have been home by 9 and in bed by 10 LOL ah well, sleep is for rainy nights.. gonna be a long Summer! Heh.. w/e I can sleep when I'm dead.
