When somebody asks you on a scale of 1 to 10 about anything, if your feeling in the middle, is it okay to just respond with any number in the middle, like on a scale of 1 to 10, if I'm feeling neutral/so-so/whatever, can I just respond "4"? How accurate are these things supposed to be?

On a scale from 1-10, I generally suppose the middle (or neutral) is 5 or 6). Scales like this aren't really about accuracy. They're just an abstract concept of a scale from one extreme to another.
