I hate this material with a passion! Every time I get something packaged in it, I immediately put on earplugs and gloves to deal with it, and hum to drown out the sound of it. The squeaking sound it makes when rubbed on something is unbearable. I can't stand to touch it with my fingernails. I'm biting my lip just thinking about it. I'm mainly talking about the fine styrofoam that cups are usually made of. The really rough, coarse styrofoam that feels like sandpaper is okay for me, since it doesn't squeak.

The sound it makes is like an annoying but more tolerable nails across a chalkboard sound. I prefer bubblewrap so that I can pop each bubble to relieve stress.

Friggin' Aye.

Cant stand the look, the feel, nor the sound of styrofoam.

Driving a car with a bunch of styrofoam containers in the back making the squeaking noise can be nerve wracking.

Love to toss stryofoam cups into a camp fire, or fireplace though. Partially because of the sadistic glee one gets from seeing the aweful stuff burn up- and partially because it looks cool when it burns.

It kinda melts as it burns and reverts to liquid petroleum, and while it does that it sends up blue flames. Quite pleasing to watch.

I can actually tolerate nails on a chalkboard. I remember one incident when I was younger, I was scratching away at some leftover chalk on the board in my classroom, and then a bunch of other students kept covering their ears and yelling at me to stop, and I was so confused. I didn't realize that most people are bothered with chalkboards until then.

I love popping bubblewrap, but it's a bit disappointing because once it's popped, it's popped, and you can't restore it to it's original state and pop it again.

Yep, Styrofoam is my kriptinite. I usually just hide in my room with my hands over my ears while somebody else unboxes things packed in it, but the gloves and ear plugs thing isn't a bad idea either.

Something rather ironic that happened recently: I got a supplement thingy a few days ago that's supposed to help with anxiety but it's label has a very annoying and anxiety inducing texture. I had to cover it in tape so I could actually handle it.

It's not one of my trigger noises, but I don't even understand why it's still legal from an environmental/ecological standpoint. It is illegal for businesses in the Seattle city limits to use styrofoam cups or take-out containers. If more cities went that direction it would be better for all of you and for the environment as well.

Styrofoam and chalkboards have got to be the two most annoying products ever invented.

I don't know what's worse, scratching it, or putting it in my mouth. I normally refuse to drink things if they're served in styrofoam cups.

I realized that the glossy paper that lots of textbooks use gives me a similar sensation. Touching it with my fingernails, especially after they've been clipped, is a big no-no.

I like rubbing it together or scratching it to annoy my mum and sisters. I don't like the sound of it, but I don't hate it as much as they do. I don't like how my hands feel after I touch it.

I loved styrofoam peanuts from the time I was a kid, but I can't stand the sound of it rubbing together *shudders* People mentioned nails on a chalkboard; I'd equate it with that O.O

Yes. Yes. Yes. I'm sitting here making cringe/repulsion faces/motions, the whole time reading this thread. It makes my teeth feel blech just thinking about it. It's just awful.

I don't mind it at all. It's a great, lightweight and cheap material for art projects. It can be dissolved in acetone.
