I'm getting tired of where I live and thinking about moving. Any suggestions?

I'm open to moving anywhere in the US. I spent some time in Virginia Beach when I was selling meat. It's very pretty out there.

Don't move to Portland, Oregon. Portland city leaders only care about making Portland the next LA or the next NYC.

I agree, don't move to Portland! It's way too amazing here. New people just make the traffic worse.

I'm thinking about Burlington, IA. I've been talking to a woman there on pof. I'm going to see how things go for a while before I make any decisions though.

the pacific northwest, specifically sequim, WA, has the most temperate weather outside of SF.

if you avoid king county, you can also find many affordable properties up here in the southern Puget sound area. as well as over most off western Washington. but not king county, by a long shot. that's Microsoft land and commands a premium.

Middle of nowhere (wherever you are), is always my choice.

Less people = less trouble

Wilderness = peace

Generally, you need to be an introverted individual to like it, though (just my experience).

i have found that the wilderness works best if one is mostly off the grid and doesn't have to drive into town too often.

Yeah.

You can live outside of a town in regards to supplies and services if you don't want to farm and similar (your own water supplies). Lots of small towns have much of the essentials, so you can live 20-30 minutes away by car but still be in the middle of nowhere.

So, you can go both ways depending on what interests you.

Being self-sufficient in some way, is always smart if you can do it (even in the suburbs).
