I started to notice this odd behavior when my son was in middle school - kids who look like or even resemble a current young celeb or even a cartoon tend to be attractive to the rest of the kids. I find this to be strange. My niece looks a lot like Selena Gomez and she gets more dates than she knows what to do with. She's 16. She declines them all because she finds the people who ask her out to be weird.

I wish this was "strange"--but it isn't.

This sort of thing, in adolescence, is all too common.

I can't honestly say that I've noticed, but I don't think it would be strange if it's true.

Selena Gomez is considered to be very attractive so your niece is probably getting asked out simply because she's attractive instead of the fact that she resembles a celeb.
