I absolutely can't stand mess, but I also have severe problems with getting motivated to clean it up. As a result, I've got stacks of papers, books, and other random stuff all over my coffee table. It's weird, because I am a total minimalist when it comes to "stuff." My mother has knick knacks all over the place (there is literally not an open space on any shelf anywhere in her house), and it drives me nuts. I've got a few things here and there, but it's all stuff that she's bought me (she insists on buying me stuff!), and I've still got quite a few totally empty shelves. But I just can't seem to keep up with the stacks of crud on my coffee table. How about you?

The mess is taking over the house!
When I am rich enough to afford a house cleaner, I will get one as soon as I can before I am buried alive underneath junk.

Messy messy messy....no matter how much I try to clean...it just collapses in a heap....does not help being the only person in household who does any cleaning.....i would much prefer a more orderly environment..but it seems entriely out of grasp.

I go pretty mental and usually have the house like a new pin before 1 or 2 pm, but if anyone even leaves a spoon out of place it gets to me big time and I have to just walk away or ignore it.

Like the kitchen counters I could end up cleaning 2-3 times, hoovering twice etc. Pain in the ass really.

I like neatness, but for some unknown reason, I seem to end up with piles of books everywhere and little piles on my desk, and clothes just dangling over other clothes that are hung up outside of my wardrobe, lol. I don't really have enough space, truth told, or it would be tidier, but the book piles always seem to happen. I will clear my desk and days later...another pile of books and letters and other knick knacks. It frustrated me no end, as I don't like clutter...it does my head in and I already lived over 5 years with a hoarder.

I never make my bed - what's the point - you'll only sleep in it again that night.

My Dad has 3 sisters who all have 'perfect' houses. They constantly say things like - I don't understand the mess, it only takes a minute to pick it up you know.

My mum and I made an opera called 'It Only Takes a Minute'.

We grab a mop and broom to use as microphones.

Then we dance around the house singing 'It only takes a minute ... yes it only takes a mintue .... it only takes a minute .... one minute of your tiiiiiiime.' etc etc

My Dad is not amused.

I aim to be neat and tidy but get frustrated when I can't help things getting messy for
whatever reason. Before I discovered AS I used to let my desk at work become cluttered and
overwhelmed with files.I realise now it was my perfectionism and reluctance to delegate
or admit I needed help that got me into that particular mess.Sometimes people can be
neat by nature but things outwith their control get on top.
