I could not sexually relate to it. too real. it has feelings and sentience, that is the off-limits thing for me. if I'm not sufficiently socially intelligent for a real live human, i'm not up to the demands of socially dealing with a sentient android, either. i'd rather have something that can pose and position and please me sexually but I could not handle the thought that such a sentient being would not choose me of the being's own accord, and would find me offensive.

Every society has its own ideas about what is and isn't attractive, and by the time we've reached adulthood we've been programmed to accept those ideas, unless we've had sufficiently intense experiences of our own which override them. That's why people like us have such a hard time romantically. We're not part of the default neurotypical social programming.

But with an android companion you would be able to choose its social/romantic configuration as easily as choosing the colour of its eyes or hair. There's no reason why you couldn't choose "aspie" or "aspie-friendly". It's likely that aspies are going to be early adopters, so you can be certain that those options will be available very early on.

If it's truly conscious, your android may eventually choose to modify its initial configuration. Whether it embraces its artificially imposed aspie-ness or rejects it will depend on the environment you provide for it.

A female-looking robot that guys can completely control and be their slave, what a surprise.

If most men could destroy a real women because she could think and feel, and get away with it, they would. :x

None of the previous comments mentioned a specific gender (or slavery come to think of it). Are you referring to the video clip?

I seriously doubt that. Most people (men included) are not psychopaths.

I wouldn't want to own an android slave but I would love to play the game. :) Oh wait, that's not an option in the poll.

the learning opportunities, assuming it could download knowledge to perform(teaching by example) flawlessly in just about any subject, would be phenomenal... though, also, humbling beyond measure.

as far as wanting one, my daily life persona is rather stark, so no. it would appear it would be as emotional/feeling as any other human being, so it'd probably feel disappointed or rejected by my lack of directly expressed feeling.

how 'bout if it was programmed to be nurturing in a custom-tailored manner?

to me, if a robot looks like a person and convincingly acts like a person in a variety of ways, then it is a person. though not with the same needs or desires (if any), which is something to be taken into account (just like with any actual human). if a robot is loyal to me and requires my loyalty in return, then it would only be fair to be loyal in return

i'm confused by the options though. should i pick the ice cream? :) i don't find the idea of "owning" a robot like that one disturbing at all

I not only think you might just as well pick the ice cream, but offer a taste to a nice robot in your life. ;) it is disturbing to me only because i'd run into the same problems I run into with real humans. :|

not cartoonish but still realistic, just more forgiving of my eccentricities/addlements.

well, how do you know if that one from the video isn't already? she looks like she's smart enough to understand her condition and her situation, and she recognizes when it's appropriate to be grateful and to make it known that she's grateful. she has superhuman qualities, but she's humble. she has no need for pride, and she's programmed not to be patronizing. she would recognize your kindness as a person and value you for it

she would like you just fine :)
