I know someone who's son didn't cry at birth at all, and actually didn't cry until he was about 4 weeks old, and only made quiet sqeaky sounds between birth and 4 weeks. But I read somewhere that babies 'have to' cry at birth to get oxygen into their lungs, otherwise it could cause complications, and even brain disorders. But this boy was never affected by not crying at birth, and never had any health complications. He is 16 now and is very neurotypical.

I cried the place down as soon as I was born, which probably allowed plenty of oxygen into my body...yet I still had a brain disorder (and neurotypical parents and rest of family).

Hmm, isn't it that a baby has to take a breath though? Not necessarily through crying (although it usually is).

So, maybe the baby was still breathing all the time, just without making any sound, and obviously no crying?

Either way, at least he's a healthy 16 year old :D

I reckon I cried at birth because I was remembering my death last time around.
