Having a Portable Heater

If you live in an apartment, do you like apartment heaters or portable heaters? I have a portable heater I use, I don't like my apartment heater, the fumes are too strong for me & can cause me a headache & makes my stomach hurt. I have a wall heater & I need to bend down to turn it on, since I can fall down if I bend down, I can't do it. If you like portable heater, do you have 1 or 2 heaters?

We have a floor furnace & we don't care for it a whole lot. It sometimes struggles to come on because of moisture in the basement. It also tends to feel hot downstairs when it's running & drys out my skin. We probably wouldn't feel comfortable having a portable heater running when we're not around because we'd be worried about it catching on fire.
