This one is a self-explanatory post: Share some memories of your favorite time periods in your life. Mine will focus on the years 1999/2000:

It was around this time 18 years ago that I moved to my current hometown (that I still live in, with a couple of stops in Seattle), and tried to cope with the thought of my then 11-year old self moving from a large town to a smaller one on an island.

That's where Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs came in. Watching those shows, and taping their repeats in the morning before my 6th grade classes, helped me cope with the new smalltown life that I had. Although both series are now available in their entirety on DVD, those tapes transport me back to a time where I wasn't a constant worrywart (about the world, which is how I can sometimes be now, and about my future, and worrying about how I am perceived as a person). Oh, how Yakko, Wakko, Dot, and Buster and Babs Bunny had enriched my life as a 12 year old! :D

Well, my time on this island town is coming to a wind-down. I am not sure where we will end up, but it will be elsewhere, and I hope my dad finds something new. You know, maybe I might move back to the town where I moved from 18 years ago...... it's not out of the realm of possibility.

It was during the summer of 1999, I discovered a love for baseball (I was into football during the previous fall) when my local Safeway had a copy of the 1986 New York Mets song Let's Go Mets! on sale at their used videos section. I bought it, and fell in love with it to the point where I wore out the tape (thankfully, it is now available online, so I don't have to worry about wearing out another old VHS tape XD). It seemed to work, as when I went to New York City in August of 1999, I saw the Mets (at old Shea Stadium) play the L.A. Dodgers, and the Mets won 2-1 (the game was played on August 6th). (Incidentally, 13 years later, on June 28, 2012, when I went to Anime Expo in Los Angeles, I saw the Dodgers play the Mets, again, this time at Dodger Stadium. The Mets won again, 3-2.)

Which brings me to the year 2000. That was when I got into anime and Sailor Moon. Wanna know how it happened? I had gotten wind of a Sonic the Hedgehog comic from the previous January (one of their old quarterly Sonic Super Specials, this was the eighth one in question) that parodied Sailor Moon. It was around that spring that this occurred. That summer, I got on ICQ, and started talking Sailor Moon and began recording the S-arc episodes that had been recently been dubbed into English (five years after the series first hit stateside) on Toonami (back when it had an afternoon block weekdays), and I even came up with my Sailor Moon/Buzz Lightyear crossover story idea, set in the S arc (a few months later, Buzz Lightyear's own series, incidentally, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, came out, and 14 years later, I refined the story into the fic that I created- it was also in 2014 that I got to meet some of the original English SM cast @ Anime Expo in Los Angeles. Good times.....). I went to New York again in July 2000, and even saw my cousins in the Washington, DC area. I got into Toy Story and Back to the Future, and even had my parents buy me a CD copy of the latter movie's soundtrack. I still have that CD. :)

I was also very active on the internet in those years, with my primary provider being AOL, which I ditched at the end of 2000 for a broadband connection, which I still use today. :D

I sometimes wish I could have the old me that wasn't worried about the world so much, but with the me of now that's much more wiser and intelligent than my naive pre-teen self. I wish the world weren't so, well, crappy at times, which is why I get worried about the world sometimes. I miss 1999/2000......
