Help with sympathy card

Can anyone help please
My daughters father in law was sadly diagnosed with bowel cancer and is going in for surgery this week.
I really want yo give him a card so he knows were all thinking of him and praying for him etc but I don't know how to put it properly one always had a problem with this.
As you can see I don't know how to be "short and sweet".

"Dear_______, we are all thinking of you at this difficult time. You will be in our prayers. Much love, from_________."

Thanks for that its simple but days enough, I feel so dumb at my age, its like I already what to say but the slightest thought of social interaction turns me into a moron.
This is slightly easier because I'm trying to be myself without being embarrassed.
