My older brother had a real phobia of clowns, even seeing a clown on tv would make him cry. He seemed to grow out of visibly showing that fear as we got older but I sometimes wonder if he just became more adept at hiding it.

Coulrophobia - an irrational fear of clowns, not restricted to evil clowns like Pennywise or the Joker. I head there's some "killer clown" sighting epidemic going on in the States since 2016, I don't know if it's happening here in Canada, but that's one phobia I can say I've never had and try not to chuckle too much when other adults say they are genuinely terrified of clowns because they'd probably laugh at me if I told them that if someone tells me they're getting the flu I just want to slap on a mask and some rubber gloves. Or if a large and scary dog starts barking and growling suddenly I almost jump out of my skin. Or how I feel every second of my life is on the line when I'm crossing a busy street.
