apache tears

look at these apache tears, does anyone know anything about them? are those large ones a mistake?

Wow...I had a few of these when I was younger, unfortunately they were lost in a move years ago. Loved them, they were like glass...the legend behind them was told to me by the lady that gave them to me when I was about 8 or 9.

The big ones aren't a mistake...they do range in size. The ones I had were tiny compared to those though.

I used to know. I collect stones myself. Have quite a few, including an apache tear.
Seen labradorite?

I know nothing about rocks except I like to collect them and they're neat

yes ive seen labradorite, its a pretty cool stone. it belongs to the feldspar family.

have a look at this! its a megalodon tooth, prehistoric shark the size of a schoolbus!

Well, I sure have nothing that big!
I like fossils.
Labradorite is a favorite, as is moldavite and a greenland one called nuumite...think I spelt that right. It is the oldest stone known, supposedly.

I have a small collection of pyramid geodes (basically geodoes carved into pyramids). They used to be easy to find in rock shops, but not anymore. Anyhow, I lost over half my collection the last time I moved, including a large gold sheen obsidian one I bought in memorium of a friend who died. They somehow got misplaced and didn't get here with the rest of my stuff. I haven't a clue what happened to them. I still get upset thinking about it. I'm getting upset right now in fact.

I have only 8 now. They look sad and lonely sitting on my dresser.

I don't know anything about apache tears, though. Sorry.

cool i have some tektites, wich moldavite is apart of. my favorite rocks i have are of course my iron nickle meteorite, my cut star ruby and that tooth. (i want to turn it into a necklace and wear it) haha

I've brought meteorites to give as gifts to friends. That's a totally Aspie gift, isn't it? LOL. "Isn't it cool??? It's iron and nickel....from space!! !"

Fortunately, the friends I have given these too have appreciated getting such an unusual gift.

It's a 6.2", 10 lb. gold sheen obsidian sphere and it's only $438! I figure if they stop making pyramids, I'll have to start collecting spheres. I hate eggs, so the sphere will have to do. I already have two small spheres, one leopard agate and the other is tiger ironstone.

yah there nodular obsidion, i was just wondering if those larger guys were a deformaty

heres two of my favorites, danburite and hiddenite.

danburite, this mineral was once confused with topaz due to crystal structor.




hiddenite, a very rare form of spodumene (the green variety)
