Do they annoy you? I think they should have subtitles on the TVs if they're not going to have sound.

Having had to wait in lots of hospital waiting rooms, I have noticed this strange phenomenon.
I can lipread some of it but most of the content is lost.
Some do have subtitles, but they are often those wild and wacky kind of subtitles like you get on YouTube.
Btw, if you've never turned on the YouTube subtitles, you've got to do so - it's an absolute riot!
Last time I went to the service station, I noticed they had silent TV screens near the bowsers.
WTF??
Do people really need to be watching TV while filling their cars?

I think the idea at gas stations, is that since people have to stand in one place for a few minutes, but can't look at their phones, marketers had to find some other way to serve them advertising.

I would prefer to have subtitles on silent TVs, too. I have had occasions when I saw interesting people talking and felt frustrated that I could not hear them.

It seems like more and more public places are getting TVs.

Most of the times I've been somewhere that had TVs on mute the TVs were on sports games. You can read the scores on the screen.
