I feel repressed when cooking for them, it feels like I'm making the same meal over and over again, but in mixed order.

If I ever had a kid, their only choice would be to pick out the things they don't like if they don't want to eat it. I used to hate certain foods as a child, but gained a tolerance for food-specific aversions overtime.

I think it's partially stubbornness to not give certain spices/foods a chance, especially since adults have less sensitivity to taste compared to kids.

It seems negative to carry over pickiness to adulthood, when you could probably just suck it up and eat your peas.

One thing ive learnt, when a persons hungry they'll eat almost anything. Ive lived on that poverty line before. People can eat whatever they want, i dont really understand pickyness. Ive made myself eat things before that for one reason or another i didn't like. It might be why today im a very unfussy eater with little i wont eat. The only things i will flatly refuse are those that might make me physically ill which isn't alot.

For sure about the anything-tastes-good-enough-when-you're-hungry part. I agree that people can eat what they want, but cooking for them is tedious, especially when it's expected to be shared with me when I can think of so many ways to make it better.

When people are picky, it feels like I'm/they're losing out on a lot. It's almost like a pet peeve, it makes me wonder if they were coddled as a child for their likes/dislikes, instead of just giving them the option to pick something out if they don't like it.

With some aspies, the texture and taste of certain things is anplified a ton, like salsbury steak or sloppy joes or.... *shudder* mayonaise. (Really, it's the way it smells that makes it gross along with how oily it is. Along with anything spicy.

It's not always fair to say that because some people are able to overcome an aversion that everyone should be able to. Just because humans are built similarly, it doesn't mean we are all built the same. That doesn't mean to stop pushing altogether at the first sign of resistance -- it's more of taking a closer look to see when someone is making a valid effort and when they're just being a brat even though they're not getting over it as quickly as one would expect, because those same aversions can be just as much an annoyance to those trying to overcome it as they are to the people around them and it does nothing to help matters when someone is taking their frustrations out on the people with these aversions.

You seem to have both neurodiverse and neurotypical traits

I'm a picky eater & I was worse as a kid. I think some of it is/was related to food sensitivities. I've gone a couple days without eating as a kid because I couldn't get food I ate. People were worried I was going to die when I was a toddler because of how little I would eat & how skinny I was.
