Crazy Hail Storm!

Alright so earlier we had a crazy hail storm where I live, like these things where comparable in size to baseballs and softballs a bit after it stopped most shrunk to the size of golf balls, I've dubbed them frankenhails. This was hours ago and there are still some big chunks sitting out there. Like I have heard of large hails, but I always figured it would be mostly normal hail with just a few frankenhails not just tons of frankenhails pummeling everything for a good 5-10 minutes.

Anyways we have skylights at my house so one of those got destroyed, luckily a lot of it is still intact so its not just letting tons of rain pour in...but there's a big hole, so we have a couple bowls on the floor to collect the water drips. My brother has a car out front he's not currently driving that got the back window shattered. Also, he had just left in the car he is driving to take a friend home and go to work before the storm hit and apparently while he was driving the hail shattered the back window on that one to. Just glad he wasn't on the highway or something.

Scared the crap out of me though, just trying to sit and chill and suddenly all hells breaking loose and it dawned on me the skylights were in danger so I was worried they all could have broken and I was going to get hit in the head with one of those hails.

The hail we get here is generally no bigger than snowflakes. I would have had a heart attack if confronted by frankenhails!

Those are big.We get hail here,but I haven't experienced any like that.
I have a metal roof,hail can get really loud at times.

Usually the hail is more normal sized, like the size of large marbles at the largest, this was certainly not the most common phenomenon. It also destroyed the roof of the Colorado Mills Mall and caused lots of flooding inside. So now its closed indefinitely till they can fix it...kinda sucks because I do some of my shopping there, as it is close to where I live.

At this point everyone in the Denver area probably either has had a car window broken or knows someone who has.

According to the weather channel the storm is headed east, so for anyone east of Colorado...watch out, its in Kansas now and will gradually make its way towards Florida. The weather channel forecast only shows up until friday, but if it doesn't dissipate by saturday it'll probably hit Florida to.

That sounds like a very bad hail storm. Where I come from seldom gets hail but we get it occasionally where I live now. What we get is nothing in size compared to what you got. I'm glad your safe & didn't get a lot of damage from it.

One time I was at work where it perfectly sunny when at home there was a hail storm with two to three inch diameter hail which is practically unheard of on Long Island. I was so pissed off I missed this once in a lifetime event it because I am a weather geek like that.
