I wonder what counts as sounds you can imagine ? I can repeat tunes I know in my mind by thinking about them, but try to imagine the sound of something like a car or a vacuum cleaner and nothing happens.

I definitely can't see with my mind's eye and can't imagine smells, tastes, and touch.

I can do all of this.

Tunes and songs I know, sound of a car of vacuum cleaner, sounds of animals, sounds of alarms, different kinds of beeps and rumbles, the sound of many people talking at once, the sound of someone speaking, the sound of an airplane, thunder, wind, sound of something falling down and hitting the floor or carpet, the sound of dishes being put into dishwasher and many more... Tell me something and I will probably both see and hear it.
All this might not be as loud and clear as the real ones but definitely hearable and distinguishable.
But the image I see at the same time will be almost as clear as reality.

I can also imagine taste, smell and touch. In that order. . Taste doesn't give me many problems - I am even able to mix tastes in my imagination for example I will be able to guess how an apple would taste mixed with a sausage although I never ate this mixture before. Smell less so but I still imagine some smells such as mint, lemon or the air before an thunderstorm.

Touch seems to be the hardest sense to imagine - probably because it is too related to sight. When I try to imagine how something feels to touch I will see it's detailed texture instead and sort of phantom the feeling. The same thing happens when I am actually touching something with my eyes closed - I will see it almost instantly, unless it is something I don't know or there is a lot of similar stuff around(then I will see all of them and try to guess which one it is).

I think the latter like a car or vacuum cleaner - any kind of sound effect type sound.

I don't have too much difficulty with it myself.
