It seems like more and more public places are getting TVs these days. I have heard of gas stations that have TVs at the gas pumps.

I really HATE them! They never have anything on I find even remotely interesting to watch, and even if they did the place or people around me in is distracting and I find them loud and distracting. This hasn't gone unnoticed by the receptionists at the outpatient mental health waiting room at the hospital. They've noticed me sitting with my fingers or little rolled-up bits of tissues in my ears, so now they usually turn it off when I come in for appointments.

About the only time I've ever actually stood and watched for a few minutes was at Walmart when they're playing a Disney or Pixar movie on their big screen TV display, because the animation is almost hypnotic.

and you can't make them shut up.

i haven't encountered what *i* would call TV, but a screen that consonantly is blaring advertisements.

no comment on muted fox news at gyms.

We have them at a few stations and everyone I seen had local news. But if an Amber or Silver Alert was issued it would show that.

TVs are popping up everywhere. Waiting rooms, restaurants, stores, malls, hair salons, gas pumps, elevators, and even public restrooms.

I think I know what is. TV is dying. Most shows are not one bit worth watching, and everyone is using computers now. So they're desperately trying to keep TV from becoming obsolete by having them in places people may not be able to use a computer because they're busy doing something else.

Seriously, gas stations?

I'm at a gas station right now. My dad left me in the truck so he could go pump, but the pump right next to us is blaring right at me talking about some fancy shmancy motor oil used by Nascar. >_<

If you have a phone with an IR blaster like the Samsung Galaxy S4, you can change the channel on any TV to something you wanna watch and others won't even know who changed the channel. You can even turn off the menus at some fast food restaraunts that use TV screens to display them at will.
:D

I loathe them. Our gas station just installed them at the pumps, so now I have to fill up elsewhere.

When I go to the pharmacy, there are televisions blasting over my head in line. I don't like being a captive audience and just want to scream after a couple minutes near them. :x
