So I have this favorite toy. It is a toy school bus that I got when I was 15 for Christmas. It is very rare and was sold for a limited edition in 1995. You can only find them on Ebay and they aren't on Ebay very often. The bus comes with stickers to put on the doors and windows of the bus. At the time, I was stupid and threw one of the stickers out. It didn't bother me that the bus was missing a sticker until 4 or 5 years later. I did other stupid things such as ordering other buses off of Ebay and attempting to steal one of their stickers for my bus. I ended up tearing the stickers from the other buses. I didn't end up using the stickers from the other buses, so I resold them. I later found out that I could just have a new decal made exactly like the one my bus was missing. I ended up doing that. I feel so stupid for going out of my way to try and steal a sticker from other toy buses when I could have just sent my bus to this decal shop in the first place. It doesn't end there. I purchase another brand new bus off of Ebay a year later. I put all the decals on and resold it. Then recently, I have been thinking about getting another bus because my original one is looking kind of worn, but still in decent shape. A month ago, I saw another toy bus on Ebay and bought it. When I opened it and put the stickers on, I tried to fix one of them but ended up ruining it. I had to send this bus to get a new decal after I had just opened it. I just resold this new one and now I sort of regret it. It looked so much nicer and newer than my original one now I am thinking of selling my original one and waiting until I find another one on Ebay. I know this sounds so ridiculous and so crazy. If I get another bus, it will be my eighth one. I've made so many mistakes with these buses, but it is my favorite toy. I just want one that looks nice, but I feel like I've ruined so many of them even though I sold them. It is a nice toy and in a way I feel like I don't deserve it because I keep messing up their decals. I have poor motor skills and I suffer from OCD and perfectionism.

I know that I'm insane, but it has been difficult for me to decide whether I want a new bus or my original one. After recently selling the seventh bus that I bought, it made me realize that I am ok with selling my original bus and getting another one. I wish I had come to this conclusion before I sold the recent one that I bought. Is it insane to buy and resell the same item over and over? At the times I have bought these other buses, I wasn't thinking about keeping any of them permanently and selling my original one. Now I have decided to sell my original, but it is too late. I will have to wait for another one to be listed on Ebay.

There's an old saying that goes something like, "you have to break a lot of eggs to make an omelette". Which I take to mean either things don't come easy or you sometimes have to mess up a lot to get something right. And then there's also "If at first you don't succeed, try try again". My dad cosmetically customized a motorcycle once and he made a lot of wrong choices and kept having to buy and resell stuff on Ebay and all that. It took him several attempts to get the gas tank painted right and decals on correctly and on and on. Trial and error.

Several issues here.
Having a passion for toy school buses is unusual, but I wouldn't call it "insane".


Many folks get a passion for collecting odd things like vintage toys. Adult "toys" like real motorcycles may be more socially acceptable than toy motorcycles, or toy school buses. But there are vast numbers of folks who collect that sorta thing too (school lunchboxes, GI joes barbies etc).

Trouble is this (I'm no expert, all I know is what I get from watching antiques roadshow):the experts don't like you messing with stuff. If you have the vintage school bus in mint condition its worth a lot more than the slightly worn school bus that has lost some of the original decals. But if you try to restore a worn one to mint condition it does NOT restore the value apparently. The experts on Antigues Road Show are always zeroing in on things like "I can tell that some later person tried to restore this thing I can tell that its fake- so hurts the value". Or that's the impression I get.
You might wanna rethink your approach, and research the collectible toy bus market before you diving into trying to fix toy buses.

I wouldn't say it's insane but I don't understand why you bought some after you had the decal shop make the sticker for your old bus. Did you buy em just to put stickers on I would guess that new with the stickers to put on would be the same price or more than opening it to put stickers on. You mentioned having bad motor-skills & I have problems with fine motor-skills to & a tremor disorder that acts up when doing things with fine motor-skills. I learned that it's sometime easier for me to get someone else to do something than for me to try a bunch of times. So I would suggest that you get someone else to put the stickers on the new one(if you decide to replace yours) so that way you won't have to worry about taking it to the decal place to have one made incase you've messed up putting some on.
