Why can men walk around topless but women can't? This seems very sexist to me and makes no sense.

Now that you mention it, yeah, I think it's sexist. Although, if we try to pinpoint exactly what is sexist, I think it's the reaction of men to women. So long as men are bigger and stronger and somewhat unpredictable, women will have to cover up.

The whole "decency by being uptight and anally retentive about sex" thing is a crock.

...um because car crashes won't be epidemic when men go topless.

Because breasts are sexual, whereas manboobs aren't.

I believe that it's right to have laws enforcing moral/social decency in public.

I'm male, and my manboobs are quite sexy, but I do keep them covered most of the time.

Breasts are only seen as a sexual thing because they're hidden. If it became more common for breasts to be exposed, then it wouldn't be so arousing to see them. For example, in those countries where the women are constantly topless or even naked, the men aren't walking around with constant erections, because breasts aren't taboo. It's common.

I agree that women not being permitted to go topless is sexist. The breasts are not a sex organ, and were never meant to be involved in sex, so the fact that people see them as sexual isn't the fault of the woman who has them.

New York State passed a Law last year I think that permits women to go topless provided they don’t do it for sexually provocative reasons. Many other states don't have laws against it specifically. Usually they enforce "lewd" statutes but if you're not doing anything lewd they leave you alone, Florida is like that.

The town of Brattleboro, Vermont allows public nudity.

Who the hell cares if you don't like it, deal with it or stay inside.

You can go topless on Miami Beach. Found that out the hard way on my 18th Birthday while in college. Okay, that did not help the argument...I don't think...oh...I don't know. San Dimas High School football rocks!

If you go to a public swimming pool you'll see quite a few topless men who have breasts larger than the women. It has been legally rule that female breasts are not genitalia and therefore in most places it is not illegal for a women to go topless. And most typically if a women goes topless in a place where only women are getting prosecuted for being topless the case will be throw out.


I would do it, but i don't want the perverted men around it would attract. As it my breasts are already large enough that I attract quite a bit of unwanted male attention if I wear anything than a sports bra with a baggy shirt.


Its also considered "socially unacceptable" for a man to go about in a dress,k doing nothing to disguise the fact he's a man. But if you try it you'll discover that by and large most people on the street are very accepting of it, and most who think its odd try to hide the fact that they look twice.
