I'm looking at the label on a jar of peanut butter, which tastes fine, thank you.

I know what hydrogenated means - each molecule filled with an atom of hydrogen, disabling its use as food.

Somebody once said: "If it won't rot, don't buy it."

Okay, but I have a terrible time with all natural peanut butter, which one with oil on top (store it upside down) and needing real muscular endeavour to get a tbsp of it. The result is I don't buy peanut butter any more.

But I caved and bought one. What I am asking you is this, if you happen to know?

Ingredients: dry roasted peanuts, sugar, hydrogenated rapeseed, cottonseed, and soybean oil, salt.

What has been hydrogenated and lacks nutrition? the seeds and oil, or the peanuts too?

hydrogenated is UNHEALTHY. avoid if at all possible, unless you want clogged arteries. I would just avoid PB if the natural stuff is too unmanageable. I have better luck using a fork with a stout handle to stir the stuff up. the healthiest PB has just peanuts in it. no chemicals.

They hydrogenate the oil to keep it from separating into a liquid and a solid. For some reason many consumers don't like that, even though that just means you have to stir it up before using it.

You can buy a hand crank to stir peanut butter.

Suggests you look for peanut butter with zero trans fats and no added sugars.

Walmart sells all-natural PB with NO transfats/hydrogenation, only ingredients are peanuts.

Aha! Thank you. Is it by Kraft? I can get that with my regular groceries. Greatly appreciated. :)

Adams brand. I don't think Kraft sells all-natural anything.

Yes, Kraft has little credibility to me. But in the interests of availability, could you give me your opinion of this?

I couldn't find any pics of the nutrition label in back to see if it contains anything besides peanuts. you want to avoid excessive salt, any oils other than peanut oil, sugar/corn syrup.

^^^ Thank you. In fact, I'm not ready for total food purity just yet, especially re salt. But avoiding hydrogenation I am ready to do. So if it says on the front "100% peanuts" I guess I'll go with it.

I hope you're thankful that your body can still handle salt. I find it one of the more hard things to give up or even substantially cut back on.
