Does anybody else get anxious when they witness the first cut made into a beautiful novelty cake? You know the ones - they can be the shape of a cartoon character or a car or rocket, anything at all.

My Dad was gifted a really beautiful one for his 70th birthday on Friday, in the shape of his MGB Roadster, and it just goes through me to watch these things being destroyed. I know that it's stupid as it's a cake and it's supposed to be cut up and eaten, but it always makes me uneasy to see it happen in front of me.

I heard some people can't even stand to dip their knives into a newly opened jar of peanut butter, ruining its smooth creamy surface. Maybe it's an OCD thing?

Personally, I usually only get anxious if I don't get a corner piece on a square cake because it has more frosting, which I love. Hopefully someone who prefers less frosting on their piece will want to trade.

Of course, you can always take a picture of the cake so you'll always get to see who good it looked before it was eaten.

I can totally understand the peanut butter thing. I used to hate squeezing a brand-new toothpaste tube for the first time, for that same reason. That was when they were aluminium tubes.

We did get a few pictures of it ( the cake ).
