I hate that issue so much, I've certainly ran into that problem before....especially when I have bought more 'budgety' shoes like from Payless shoe store, not sure if they have that in the U.K but yeah I call that store 'pay less for less'.
For the longest time I was wearing 'skater shoes' basically shoes they make specifically for people into skateboarding I don't skateboard but a lot of the shoes are comfortable. They may have those in the U.K but not sure about any stores or anything as I only know where I've gotten them here in the U.S.
Or my other go to was Converse brand high tops, but the downside of those is its easy to get dirt and little bits of rock and debris in them. Now I have Doc Marten boots, in the very beginning they were kind of hard on my heels and I got a couple blisters but since I have broken them in they are quite comfortable, though a little bit heavy. I think doc marten makes soft type shoes to...not just the leather boots. If I recall those are from the U.K do they actually have physical doc marten stores there?
