Hey, it's my goal to be an inventor, I made a facebook page for one of my inventions, gearing up for a kickstarter campaign. Please, check it out! (It's a hat that's bluetooth and has a text display) https://www.facebook.com/hatofcool

What does your invention do? I'm blind so I can't see the photos.

it is a hat that displays text sent from your phone, with an LCD screen and bluetooth.

Is that sort of like a smartwatch but in a hat?

I have a feeling your post got buried by all the jumbo random threads on this forum, so hopefully you and I doing a little back-and-forth will also serve to get your thread more views. :)

So is the idea that you can read your texts by looking at your hat or that other people can read the screen or a bit of both

The idea is that a person can display a message of their choosing on the hat, and wear it to parties. It can also help people who are def or mute. Some people think it's cool, other people think it's stupid, but I am trying to find out if there is a market for the product and gain a bit of a following before I decide if I make a kickstarter campaign.

Oh OK I get it now. :)

So I guess the idea is that the hat might be cooler or more fashionable than just holding up a phone or other communication device? Or maybe people could start putting up goofy sayings at their parties. Trends are hard to start though, but maybe in the geek community.

^Seems like Jack's product would be more budget-friendly and less flashy though. A bit of a different market.

I've seen belt buckles that display messages, so if there's a market for that, there would probably be a market for a hat.

Hmm, I wonder if people would like the hat better than the belt buckle because it's closer to eye level. Or maybe a name tag or badge.

Someone in Australia invented a magpie deterrent helmet which consists of a number of party whistles attached to a tube, which you blow through, and they unroll with the feather at the end and it scares the magpies when they try to attack you.
I understand it's started a bit of a craze.
You really just have to hit on a really novel but useful idea.

Currently, it costs less than $20 to make each one, so I could sell them for $40 or $50 with free shipping and still make a profit. Most products that have a similar concept cost north of $100.

You should add extra features that current products don't have - like mood statuses

You could set it to display your current mood - grumpy , angry , cross ( I only do negative moods  )
