You better not say "hi" to him.

I'm sure I read a funny joke somewhere about the "hijak" and "hi, Jack" thing. Forgot how it went though.

You can say "hello", though.

I must be tired; I laughed way too hard once I actually got the joke.

my initial thought reading the title was that it was about 24 (the series) and "uh-oh, better get off this plane, 'cause something's gonna go down with Bauer around"

I just say "howdy" and rarely ever call someone by name. The reason I don't call someone by name is because of the prosopagnosia -- if I do know them, I'm rarely sure that I didn't confuse them with someone else and don't want to embarrass myself by calling them by the wrong name.

The movie "Harold and Kumar Go to Guatanimo" is just one long extended version of that joke (its a good movie though).

Except (spoiler alert!) that Kumar yells "this is just a BONG [pot smoking device]!" to the hysterical crowd who of course think that he is saying "this is a BOMB!".

You can always wonder if there's someone named Rose on the plane.

It's unlikely you'll see someone you know on a plane when you get onboard and extremely unlikely you'll see someone you know on the plane named Jack.
