We don't have hot water or enamel baths. Still on tin baths. Wish me luck fitting into it. ;-)

Make sure to put some more coal on the fire before you get into bath water that 2 people have already bathed in

Only two, they're posh your way Ferris.

We still have a mangle in our house.

Do you keep it next to your outside lavatory or in your anderson shelter

Next to the outside bog. We use only the best Izal toilet roll in our house. ;-)

I used to have an outside lavatory at the end of the road, about twenty yards away... next to the coal 'ole. No kidding.

I went in there once and a passer-by had left a huge jobbie in it.

The coolest thing about the UK----is the constant greenery, even in Central London.

I like the color of the grass there; it's different than what we have in the US. It's a lighter sort of green.

I was amazed, flying over London, how green it actually is from above.

Whenever I've been to London, I've been struck with how grey it is. Even the parks are grey with visible pollution. To be fair, it has usually been unseasonably warm, so the grass has been more yellow than it might have been.

I enjoy seeing the change in flora as I move up and down the country.

I've never been to the States, but I have of course seen footage. I've read up on and watched green urban redevelopment projects, but I hadn't necessarily strung it together about how so much of American cities is devoid of greenery.

I suppose I'm quite fortunate to live on the cusp of the countryside.

Just the thought of that tracing paper sends shivers up my spine.

They also issued this in our army ration packs. 8O

I cannot believe ASDA sent me a tiny box of chicken poppers instead of my large pack of chicken nuggets!

What an insult.

What am I supposed to do with them - throw them at unwanted callers?

What a ******* liberty! :-x

Some of the substitute items I have received are a joke and some have been luxury , You should fire off a polite email to Asda complaints saying you are disappointed with your substitutes , because they will upgrade your substitutes for several shops afterwards ( or at least it appears this way )

Kraftie- I'm surprised London has green. They are building houses everywhere they can, on any bit of land. It worries me because there are always trees being cut down and land being dug up to make room for another huge estate full of more houses and flats. I worry in case soon we will have so little trees producing oxygen, that we won't be able to breathe. Will this happen?

You're doing it wrong. Unfamiliarity with the dialect. Close but no cigar. ;-)

Etiquette question:

Is it wrong to take my own tea bags and sugar to my neighbour's house?

If I don't then I get offered all sorts of weird stuff I am not used to.
