Are carrots good for your eyes?

Yeah, carrots are good for your eyes. They won't improve you vision, but they contain vitamin A. Lack of vitamin A can lead to cataracts and macular degeneration.

There is a myth that eating carrots will improve your night vision, but it was made up by the British during WWII to mislead the enemy about their military capabilities.

If it were true, I'd have better night vision than my cats by now.

Skilpadde is right, though, they are good for the eyes - in as much as they contain micrnutrients of importance to eye health. It's one of those 'old wives tales' which turns out to be true, in the same way that fish and walnuts are good for the brain.

Not if someone pokes you in the eye with one.

^ I hope they're fresh baby carrots and not the type you get in a can because they are often 'manufactured' carrots with a lot of chemicals added.

I sometimes buy baby carrots that are fresh that you can eat with salad dressing or dip.

For a while now I've noticed that when I try to eat large pieces of something hard and crunchy like raw carrots and apples, it's hard or painful on the left side of my jaw and my ear. I've had a lot of infections in my left ear so it's not too surprising, but it has me worried. :(
