Did you cry/feel sad at Disney's 'Fox and the Hound'?

I've only seen it once a couple of years ago so I can't remember the full story, but I cried my eyes out at the scene where the lady has to leave the fox (or was it hound? One or the other), in the woods and drive away. It felt like my heart ripped in two when watching that scene.

I thought I was just being silly or oversensitive and thought I was the only one who would cry at that, but other people have said that they cried at that scene too.

Did anyone else feel emotional at that particular scene?

I haven't seen that movie, but I know I would get emotional if I saw it. I am a person who gets very emotional where animals are concerned.

I've cried at many films ( lots of Disney ) which makes me feel really weird as I'm not an emotional person - I think it's related to my Alexthymia.

My GF told me too add that I wouldn't cry if she left me but would well up when Bambi's mum gets shot

It had to have been the fox. The scene must have been about returning a wild animal to the wild. Wouldn't make sense to place a domestic dog in the wild.

Havent seen it, but I might well have cried if I had seen it even now as a grownup.


Was already grown up years ago I was channel surfing and landed on some all movie network, and saw an odd little live action movie I had never heard of before from the early Fifties called "Goodbye to My Lady". A boy-and-his-dog movie combined with a morality play. A boy in the rural Bayou country finds a lost dog in the marshes and names her "Lady". And... just look for it and watch it. But make sure you have a box of Kleenex at your side!

But even online it might be hard to find. Not well known. The boy's uncle was played by Walter Brennan (about the only well known star in it that I can recall).

I cried over that scene the few times that I watched that movie. I bet if I watched The Fox and The Hound, I'd cry over that scene.

I think all of these movies remind me of losing my own pets.

That film was traumatic , I can't believe it was a kids film

The part where the old lady takes Tod (the fox) to the animal reserve (where she felt he would be safe because hunting wasn't allowed) was pretty sad, but I never actually cried over it.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm really a psychopath when I don't cry or feel really sad during a tear-jerking part of a movie or story. Although I did cry when Lady was taken to the dog pound. It was the scene with those crying little puppies that got to me.

I also cried during Inside Out when Joy and Bing Bong are trapped in the dump of forgotten memories, and Joy finds old fading memory orbs of Riley, and then Bing Bong allows himself to be forgotten so Joy could escape. And when Riley returns home and tells her parents how sad she is because she misses her old home, but they comfort her.

In the early days of animation most cartoons were basically comical and lighthearted, but Disney proved that cartoons could stir up other emotions in people just as much as live-action movies.

I kept on laughing at the cat's name when I watched this movie. Until the poor thing died, of course. Then I got emotional.

Has anyone here ever seen the cartoons by Raymond Briggs? The Snowman is one of them, although I never really cried when the snowman melted. But another cartoon Raymond Briggs done was Grampa, and that really really gets me crying at the end when the old man dies. And his new cartoon thing, Ernest and Effel, is sad too.

I made the stupid mistake of watching both Marley & Me and Ramona and Beezus on television the year my cat Peter passed away. Oh, why did I watch, knowing what would happen?

I've never seen it, specifically because it makes my mom cry. I strongly suspect I would cry, too - I cry very easily at movies, especially when animals are involved. I won't watch any movie that centers around an animal anymore because the animal usually dies at the end. I cried at We Bought a Zoo, for goodness' sake, even though it was blatantly obvious what was going to happen the instant we met that tiger.
