Hey everyone...it's been a while since the last time I used WrongPlanet.

So I just have a question to those who have experience with wood, building things, etc.

Does anyone know how to make thin wood (not too thin) when making/building something (besides using sandpaper)? I'm currently working on a project that I failed on & need thin placks of wood for what I need.

Thanks.

With a planer.

A plane is too hard on thin stock. I use a really good tablesaw with a planer blade.

If you can get your hands on a thickness planer, that would probably be ideal.

Those are nice, but only down to around 6mm, as with a hand plane. There is also a thicknessing sander that does marvels, but none is safe on near-veneer.

He doesn't really say how thin he needs to make the wood.
That would have been helpful to know.
He says 'thin planks' which is kind of confusing.
I think of a plank as quite thick to start with.
And he doesn't specify width, which could probably alter suggestions too.
Don't know why this is bothering me so much.

My recent "thin wood" episode was to make some model plywood, so the veneer was about .2 mm.
