Why do people add "poo" to the end of words for diminutive effect? "Hey, Katie poo!" What's so diminutive about using a word that means "feces" at the end of words? It actually sounds disgusting and gross.

I'll never understand why people do that. Maybe they want to take care of their lovers like taking care of a baby.

It comes from the Japanese "po" which is added to the end of names to show love or respect.

Interesting, Raleigh!

It does sound awfully childish in English, though! I remember there was a product called "Anti Icky Poo" designed to clean up dog and cat poo. The stuff smells worse than the poo, as it has a weird chemical smell that makes you sick.

My boyfriend sometimes adds "burgers" on the end of a name, like "Jo-burgers" when saying my name.

Also, why do people often rhyme words with a W, for example "oh, you're very picky-wicky today" or "it's very sunny-wunny outside today" or "hello, pussy-wussy"(to a cat) or "I feel like having some coffee-woffee". Why W?

Thanks to a Calvin and Hobbes comic I sometimes call my cats "snoogy-woogy" and "pooty pie", which were what Hobbes said would be his pet names for his wife if the right woman ever came along. Calvin said that would affect his stomach more than his heart. :eew:

I don't want a word meaning "feces" added after my name. There's nothing endearing about that.
