Of making posts people don't want to reply to. Maybe it's a sign I don't really belong.

Or maybe this post is a sign that that's something you want to learn to improve?

Someone else brought this up and wanted to know how they could get more views & responses. The advice I posted there was basically to act like a salesman does and ask questions vs. tell us something. If your thread title is a question, more people will be inclined to want to click and answer it. Ditto with the body.. phrase things as questions vs. statements and the same topic will get plenty more responses.

Had you written:

"Why don't people want to reply to my threads? Is it a sign I don't really belong?"

I bet I wouldn't be the first one to be replying. ;) Just sayin'.

What do you think about my advice? Gonna give it a conscious shot and see what happens? :)

The evidence, actually, is to the contrary.

People answer your threads more than they answer my threads.

I definitely "belong" here.

It's good advice . I'm not very good at posing questions though.

That "somebody" you gave that advice to was prolly Firemonkey himself. Ive had that same conversation with him.

And since that period (whether it was due to our advice, or not) had did have a good run of popular threads. But I guess this past few days he started some that didn't get responses. So now he is back to sulking again. Lol! Krafty, I, everyone, starts threads that go over like a lead balloon.

@naturalplastic the cheap and unintelligent shot was uncalled for, I am not 'sulking' . I don't blame anyone for not replying . I'm just acutely aware of my ineptitude in such matters.

People don't reply all that much when I start a thread. I don't feel it's because of any "ineptitude."

People tend to respond to the subject more than they respond to the person.

It's the SUBJECT that should inspire responses.

You've obviously got higher self confidence/esteem than me . I guess I'm not very good when it comes to subjects.

Sorry.

I get blunt sometimes. But the reason I did that was to show how absurd your worries are. You act like we on WP all get together somewhere and decide that "That firemonkey bloke doesn't belong on WP, so lets not talk to him. Okay - you didn't really imply that on this particular post, but you have actually said that you wonder that - on several other threads- that you wonder if we all actually agree to ostracize you- which is beyond absurd.

I guess that its just my "inept" way of reassuring you that you do belong here, and to convey to you not to obsess over it so much.

I think you start some interesting threads, firemonkey. Some of your posts about where or whether you fit on the autistic spectrum or elsewhere pose some intriguing questions about how we classify ourselves. I like to see posts looking at our traits from a slightly unusual perspective, but I do sense that they get fewer responses than many common questions and opinions that are often repeated, which I think is rather a shame. To be honest, I start very few threads myself for that reason; I worry that they'll be a little too "fringe" to attract much comment.

As for "unfortunate knacks"; mine are for finding things to bump my head on, stub my toe on, trip over, etc and the ability to break things which logic says should be incredibly robust. I really should try to get a job as an "ingenious fool" for testing whether or not things are "foolproof"!

It's more I question whether I belong/fit in rather than anyone else necessarily saying I don't . As for the 'ostracisation' stuff - it's a mix of insecurity and paranoia .

You sound as though you might be dyspraxic.

Yes, I think you're probably right. At my autism assessment, they suggested I do further work with the Occupational Therapist to look into it further, but it hasn't been possible due to staff shortages at the autism unit. I lose track of body parts very easily, and when I watch video of myself, what I see bears no relation to my internal perception of how I hold myself or move - to the point of being extremely shocked by it the first few times (I grew up long before video recorders were ubiquitous, of course, so I was well into adulthood before learning this.)
