I guess it's ego-driven, but I like feeling like my opinion is being considered----even if it's anonymously, *I* know I've participated.

You should have made the thread a poll. It would have been interesting to see how many people answered "no"!

Whether I do one myself or not varies, but generally not very often. Too many polls suffer from self-selection bias to a greater or lesser degree, so it depends whether or not I think it's likely to be a fair reflection of people's opinions, or whether the nature of the poll is likely to exclude people. However, I do sometimes make an exception for WP polls that are exceptionally silly, or when auntblabby's offer of a yummy ice-cream is an option!

Depends. If I am hyperfocused on something I get annoyed with the interruption. On the other hand I do understand why they are benificial if done right. Very often it is a tool that is used incorrectly.

Yeah, polls are like click bait for me! I particularly like the ones with interesting, creative options.
