I think puppets are funny. Muppets, puppets, you name it. They generally captivate me. They're easy to watch. I think their exaggerated mannerisms are easier for me to interpret than the subtleties and nuance of human expressions.

I've been married for nearly 17 years. My wife she and I will always remember when she and I were dating and we were watching TV one evening at her house and a Levi's commercial came on. I'd never seen it before (Google: "Flat Eric in Levi's Ad - You Tube" to see the commercial). I laughed so hard no sound was coming out followed with howling laughter. That made her laugh but she didn't think it was nearly as funny as I did.

It was funny to me because I wasn't expecting a puppet to be sitting in the passenger seat of a car rocking out to the music and enjoying itself. I thought its exaggerated mannerisms were funny and then when it looks back a few times like a person would do I just found it all funny at the time.

I loved the Muppets as a kid. People who come here regularly have probably seen me make at least some references to The Muppet Show or Sesame Street. :)

But some puppets on other shows, especially low-budget ones, are just plain creepy and in Uncanny Valley. For example on YouTube I once saw a video of a puppet called Nosybonk, and he was almost too disturbing to look at. 8O

And then there are all those Biblical puppet shows. A bunch of creepy, ugly puppets telling us things such as that God loves you and disobedience of any kind is a sin. They are both unintentionally amusing and disturbing.

For example there are these videos about a puppet named Oogene who looks like a weird version of Kermit the Frog and sounds and acts like a very dopey version of Ernie. In some of the videos he visits different animals at the zoo, where he talks about the usual generic facts about such animals but then ends it on a Christian note, such as the stripes on zebras being a reminder of when Jesus was whipped, or that orangutans show that God has a sense of humor. But the weirdest one was where he's going on about how dangerous bears are, and then says he'll be glad when Jesus returns because he'll make the bears safe and fun for Oogene to play with. :?
