Do you have a smoke detector in your house? Everyone should.

We have 5 in our apartment. One in the living-room, one at the top of the stairs, one in each bedroom, & one in the basement. I don't get why we have one at the top of the stairs cuz the ones in both bedrooms are next to both sides of it.

By law in the UK your landlord should supply one. If you don't have one get on your landlord's case.

I don't. They are not that common in Poland. Besides - wouldn't they go off too often because of the gas oven, fireplace and coal furnace we have? It would be troublesome.

There is one, but I don't know if it even works or not.

There is one outside my bedroom, and I think it's the only one we have. In the old house, we had three.

Now I'll have to look to see if we have more than one.

We have just one, but it is extremely loud (right outside the kitchen and often set off if someone burns something in the oven) so I have no doubt it would do it's job admirably and wake everyone in my house up in the event of a fire. It curiously never seems to run out of battery either, beginning to wonder if someone squirreled away a jet engine in the drywall cavities to keep that thing running.

Yes, and it goes off at the weirdest times. The last couple of times it went off, I nearly jumped out of my skin because it was so loud.

The 1s in our apartment have batteries but they are only a backup source of power for when our power goes out.

I think mine is exclusively battery powered. Hm, probably it's just me being oblivious to when the batteries are being changed. It's so screamingly loud, surely it uses up a lot of juice quickly. (Especially with my cooking!)

Yes, we have smoke detectors in our apartment. This is very essential as it is an indicator of fire. We also do regular maintenance of the smoke detectors to ensure that it is working properly by contacting the professionals. The residential electrical repair service NJ provides various services. We contact them to install the smoke detectors.

Yes six in all, and a fire extinguisher. I am worried about house fires so I am quite careful about it.

Have four of them. It is legally required where I live. I'm thinking about getting a couple more.
