Did you ever have a week when nothing can go right!
I think that defines this week so far and it is only Wednesday. So I wonder what the rest of the week will hold.
On Sunday, I locked the keys in the trunk of my car. When the locksmith arrived, he had the door of the car opened in a couple minutes. But opening the trunk was a different matter entirely. There is an electric trunk opener in the car but the car must be running in order to use this. Without my keys, I couldn't start my car. He would have to rekey the keys in order to pop open the trunk and that would cost several hundreds of dollars. In the end he drilled through the back seats arm rest joint and I was able to reach inside and pull the release that allowed the back seat to come down and then I fished for the keys and found them. It took a little less than 2 hours total.
Then on Monday, my wife was cutting the grass and went over a yellow jacket nest. She took about 3 dozen stings. She was in constant pain the entire night.
Then on Tuesday I went to town in my sports car to watch a movie. The movie was only about 2 1/2 hours long and when I came out my car was half submerged in water. Apparently there was a major downfall of rain and my car was parked in the wrong place. Well it took a couple hours to bail out the water from inside the car. It doesn't look like any of the oil was contaminated with water. So the engine was spared. It partially shorted out the windows but after they dried they seem to be O.K.
So today I will let the car dry out some more. There is still some water oozing from the floorboards. I decided to kill the yellow jackets. I can't have them attack my wife. So I went on the offensive. We will see how that goes.

It was like that for me last week. First I blew up at my mom only because she wanted to put my groceries in the trunk instead of the back seat of her car. Then I caused a milk flood all over my fridge and half the kitchen. And mom and I didn't go out for supper on Wednesday like we normally do and she never called and I was afraid she was very angry and upset with me. I was frustrated and miserable about the heat wave we're still having and was silently cursing all the deniers and past generations who didn't care about the environment.
Things are better now. It turns out my mom was also afraid I didn't call her because I was so angry, and we're going out to do some shopping and have supper later this afternoon.

According to my mother, she and my dad just had a week where all kinds of things went wrong:
My mom was making pies with the cherries picked from my dads trees. But she had to remove the cherry pits by hand, which took a very long time. And then when she cooked the cherries for the pies she left the lid on it and it boiled over and stained everything bright red. The pies, however, turned out fine, although she said the filling was a little too thick because of the extra cherry juice that was lost.
My dad had some accident with the pipes under their sink while he was trying to fix them and it made another huge mess. The fact that it's been so hot this summer didn't help.
And then, the summer heat caused the glue holding their blinds together melted, and the blinds fell apart! My parents had to glue them back together.
My mom's birthday is this Saturday, and we're planning to go out for supper to celebrate together. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong. ![]()
