i'm new to this site. not sure what to say. i'm pretty isolated, not much outside contact. i can't find anybody with similar intrests except music. but in that my musical tastes don't fall into any specific genre; arguments abound (i don't understand why people insist that if i like one thing then i can't like another). anyway; does anybody out there follow formula 1 racing? just trying to start a conversation.

I don't follow formula 1, but there are great music discussions in that part of the message board.

I used to follow NASCAR and USAC.

People like A.J. Foyt, Bobby Unser, Mario Andretti, Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt.

That was "back in the day," Kraftie. Even I recognize those names. :D

It would be cool to watch all those old Indy 500s with somebody!

Or Daytona 500s (but more Indy).

I used to read biographies of those guys when I was a kid.

I mean.....the Pettys have 4 generations of champion drivers! Lee, Richard, Kyle, and Kyle's son.

Of course you've watched the 24-hours at Le Mans!

How do you feel about the Dakar Rally?

la mans. YES! awesome race this year! LMP1: toyota gazoo racing with fernando alonzo (two time f1 champion). for the first time in my life i watched all 24 hours. :D not very familiar with dakar. don't think it's televised here. i try to follow WRC but again, not much on tv so i have to check the stats via internet. (most f1 drivers race rally in the off season. some dakar). fernando raced at indy instead of monaco in '17. at least he tried. engine blew.

ok. so here's the deal. kids today want to be pop stars, reality tv stars or what ever. i'm 52 so when i was a kid i saw all the apollo flights and to this day i still can't decide what i'd rather do: walk on the moon or win at least one f1 championship.

yeah. but there have been far more f1 chapionships than moon landings. we really do need to go back. sucks they canceled the shuttel program and gutted NASA. (michael schumacher won seven world championships... seven! that's so awesome. doubtful that record will ever be macted let alone surpassed).
