Does anyone else strongly dislike new movies/tv/music?

My driving playlist is almost exclusively 90's, nothing newer than 2005. My media drive at home contains 200+ movies, 600+ TV episodes and thousands of songs. Less than 5% of it is newer than 2005.

I have tried to watch new stuff. My coworkers love Rick and Morty, I watched a couple episodes and couldn't really get into it. Even my old standbys like Family Guy and The Simpsons have turned to crap in their later seasons. My domain is Alf, Full House(not Fuller House), Home Improvement, and Married With Children. Plus all kinds of 80's and 90's game shows.

I've always been a Kevin Smith fan, I love packing a bowl and watching Mallrats on a Saturday afternoon, but I thought the Hollyweed pilot was the stupidest thing I've ever seen, and everyone on the Facebook group is wetting themselves.

When did media become so formulaic and overcooked?

Most of the new programs are plain garbage. I don't watch much television except for sports, especially tennis.

I don't watch any of the garbage that's popular these days. Experts say that television is going through a golden age. I think the real golden age of television was from the late 40s through the 1970s.

I work on and semi-collect vintage televisions and radios, but I seldom enjoy what they play anymore. Detroit's classic rock station 94.7 WCSX is an exception, as well as AM 580 CKWW and the various classical and jazz stations like 90.9 WRCJ here in the metro Detroit area. None of this is new content, of course. I watched the first half of The Good Doctor and liked it, though.

I find more entertainment from watching special interest related videos like electronics repair to just people who are reasonably entertaining, nothing mainstream however. I find the modern culture of entertainment to be quite uninteresting.
