I never signed up with Reddit but I do go to a couple celeb sections to see pix of them. It's useful for finding good pix but people keep posting the same few pix over & over again so I have to wade through the same 1s to find the less popular 1s.

They're supposed to send you an email link to confirm things. I'm still waiting.

Finally managed to sign on. What do you mean by 'tough nuts' ? Do you mean they're hyper critical to the point of it being pathological?

I don't like it there at all, everything's a popularity contest. It's not like a forum where everything is nested in chronological order: you only get to see the popular posts, and everything and everyone else might as well not exist. It's not a place to have conversations with people.

The only times I go there are for threads that have answers to technical problems (computers, hardware, software, hacking, automobiles, etc.), or sometimes I'll check the subReddit of the local radio show I listen to, for inside info on what's going on there.

Oh well I'm not a popular type of person so I guess I won't do well there. So far one of my 3 threads has got a reply. They're slowly sinking down the lists.

I dislike any site that organizes comments by popularity or a mysterious “best” algorithm. I want the discussion threads lined up chronologically and will always select that option if possible. Any organizational structure that intentionally prioritizes comments based on content reinforces group think and rewards those who make extreme, reaction-generating remarks.

Chronological order is not without its biases either, as those who commented first or most recently will be favored in terms of recall. But it at least is not inherently tied to the ideas being relayed.

Already unsubscribed from the aphantasia subreddit because someone was getting too aggressive for my liking.
