By the way, does anyone here have a Verizon phone with multimedia messaging capability? Normally Verizon has it so you have to buy a ringtone maker program or buy ringtones from them, but if you want to use your own music, there's an exploit you can use to import your own .wav files onto your phone as ringtones. This is how it works:
You will need:
The song you want in an unprotected .mp3 format
Audacity (free audio editing program for Windows and Linux) with the LAME encoder library for .mp3 files
An email client
An account with vzwpix.com (free for people with Verizon cell numbers)
1. Using Audacity with the LAME library enabled, go to Files>Import>Audio and find the .mp3 file you want to make into a ringtone, then click ok to import it.
2. Use the selection tool to select a 30 second or less segment of the song to use as the actual ringtone (such as the chorus).
3. Go to File>Export Selection, and save the file as a GSM 6.0 .wav file. Make sure your filename is alphanumeric characters only, in other words, a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
4. Go to www.vzwpix.com and set up an account. This will allow you and others to email your vzwpix account and it will show up on your cellphone as a text message.
5. Go to your email client and start a new message. In the To section, enter xxx@vzwpix.com, replacing xxx with your cellphone number. Place a personal message in the message section if you so desire, then go to Attachments and attach the .wav file you created earlier to the message, then send it.
6. Within a few minutes you should receive a multimedia text message from your email address. Open it and the tone should play. After that, go to Options on your phone, there should be an option to "Save as Ringtone." Click that and you're done!
This is how I get all of my ringtones including the Kill Bill and Serial Experiments Lain one.
