If nice guys finish last what does that say

People who are decent, friendly, and agreeable tend to be unsuccessful because they are outmaneuvered or overwhelmed by others who are not so decent, friendly, or agreeable. Many such people are also perceived as weak, stupid, or ignorant, even when they are not.
Then there's NASCAR ... how can anyone be a fan of a non-sport that has only one basic strategy (e.g., Go fast, Turn left, Repeat)?

I don't get the NASCAR thing either. I think one of the reasons it's appealing to those who watch the races is the possibility of witnessing a crash. I think people who like the airshows watch, in part, for the same reason. Not the primary reason, perhaps, but the element of possible danger and calamity.
On the nice guys finishing last part, I wonder if it's evolutionary. The nice guy caveman Gorth who stuck around the cave because it was safe and kept the peace with every other cro-magnon was probably less appealing to some female cro-magnons who instead found Gorgone more appealing because he took risks, even if upsetting to those around him and in doing so found a much better hidden valley over the ridge?
Also, some women (just like some men) are materialistic and driven by status. There are some women, therefore, who would rather align with the successful but dishonest, unethical man if they think they will gain rather than aligning with a "nice guy".
