Being almost 40, with my youngest sibling out of school, no children, and most of my co workers being no younger than 20 something, this is the first time that I feel completely culturally disconnected from the younger up and coming generations, and thus the popular culture that is relavent to them. I feel like my great grandmother, who still though Matlock was a contemporary show in to the early 2000s.

Pray tell, what things are popular among our youth these days?

Spending most of their time on their phones or tablets texting & using social media. & when they're not doing that, they are playing on their xBox but lots of times they are doing the former stuff while playing.

Back when I was a kid in the 80's adults were like - oh teenagers these days all they do is watch TV and go to those horrible arcades and listen to that satanic music.

Most young people also talked on the phone a lot, except "mobile phones" didn't become a real thing until the 90's and they looked like a brick with a 10-inch long antennae. Parents were constantly yelling at them to get off the phone.

When the Sony Walkman first came out, adults were worried *that* was going to make teens antisocial. How dare anyone listen to whatever music they like without having to bother other people!
