So, what tips do you have for saving money?

I hope I explained all this clearly enough: I mostly spend money with Visa/MasterCard gift cards, because I can buy them at our local grocery store with gas pumps(Weis, if you're in Pennsylvania, but other stores/stations might have a similar program), and get points. I usually put $500 on a new one every 2-week paycheck (no, I don't spend $500 in 2 weeks! Pay for the 2nd one with some from the first), which is about 1000 points in about a month. Every 100 points gets 10 cents off, so for 20 gallons (I have a couple gas can that I fill up with the off-price), 1000 points is $1 per gallon, saving $20. Although the cards have a $5.95 fee, so I put the max on $500 on them. The two cards will have the fee of a little under $12, but minused from $20, that's a profit of $8! Every $500 card would have a $4 profit.

No credit cards; cash only.

No borrowing or lending.

Pay all bills before the deadline.

Entertain at home.

Keep all personal data personal.

It took a lot of disciplined effort to get my score above 750. Then along comes some crack head who signs my name to one of those fake "low-cost loan" checks, and suddenly I'm on the hook for over 20 grand. I was able to sue the "lending" institution for fraud and received 200 grand as a settlement. The crack head OD'd before he could come to trial.

Now I watch my finances like a hawk.

My money saving tip:

Don't buy stuff you don't need.

Listen to music on YouTube instead of buying CDs. You'll save lots of money and space.

Make and cook as much of your own food from scratch.

All the above plus spend one day disconnected from everything including food, maybe once per fortnight or month. It's not much but it adds up.
