Why do people insist on not using the Metric system?

The Metric system is by far superior in every way to the imperial, I still don't understand why it is not used everywhere?

At ancient times when people didn't have measuring tools they used their body parts to approximate distances and weight, such as feet, arms, etc.

But in the modern era it is the most logical to think in metric because there are 10 digits: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and the metric system is based on the decimal numeral system which apparently IS worldwide accepted.

Even the Brits are increasingly starting to adopt the metric system and they're the one to invent Imperial from the first place.

When I was in Florida I facepalmed so hard cause everyone was giving directions in miles and yards LOL. Car speed - in miles!! same for the GPS of the car.

Your point about moon landing is moot. In Physics the only system used is actually the metric system and is a worldwide standard.

I was talking about daily life and such.

You use what you know. The U.S. schools teach Imperial and metric, but retail uses Imperial almost exclusively. The last time retail establishments tried to enforce metric, the customers protested and threatened boycotts.

I think a lot of it has to do with a right-wing fear of an alleged left-wing plot to place the U.S. economy under the direction of the E.U. government.

Enough people to reject referenda on going metric.

To me, it doesn't matter. I'm an engineer. I use metric every day. Even my clocks are all on a 24-hour standard (instead of AM/PM).

I'm perfectly fine using the Imperial system and I'm not an idiot for not knowing the Metric system.

I bet he wouldn't call a person who speaks Spanish an idiot for not knowing English. Or maybe he would, he seems like that type of person. :roll:

By the way I am superior to you, your previous posts just proved it, so why bother? I have tolerance for people recognizing misunderstandings , but obviously you don't. Yeah, I know, I meant both Imperial users and the American system .. I was interested as to why other countries would keep it, especially in light of the British starting to lean more towards metric and the hegemony of the decimal system in science as "common science units" (that are meter, litre, KG)

Seems like conspiracies are still strong with the masses.
