how do YOU meet people?

Mostly at the hospital these days
I'm real friendly with quite a few of the nurses.
One of them even invited me to her 50th, but I didn't go.

In the past:

Sports clubs - I still socialise regularly with people I met through sports clubs years ago, they never seem to forget you.
Volunteering - those people I've kind of lost touch with.
Funerals - met my best friend at one (she wasn't dead)
In the street - met my partner there, kind of
Work
Neighbours
Facebook groups
At the pub
Fishing or camping
Dancing
Writer's group

Community jam sessions, forgot that one.

I'm introduced to people by whoever I'm with. They say hello and don't get much of a response.

At rehab.

I usually meet them when I'm out and about visiting places.
Some places are,
Subway, market square, the park, the bus, church.
Sometimes I start conversation or someone else does.
Sometimes I ask a question, or just say hello.
Or, comment on something happening that could start conversation.

When I have a job, usually I get along with someone there eventually.

The bar really isn't the place to go looking for friends, btw. I've learned that from experience. But, just talking is fine I guess. Usually not the best to see people drunk a lot since they usually have no idea what or where the conversation is going.

Though, I get along with some people who run an establishment that has a booth for drinking and tasting. Mostly it's just for tasting though.

These three activities provide me with varied social opportunities. To put it in tennis terms, they are my "Big Three."

I'm usually introduced to people by family or my friends. I'm never that interested though.

I meet people at work, obviously, but I don't usually hang out with them outside of the job.

Girls, probably 50% of them I meet online. When I was a teenager, a lot more of them were friends of friends.

I met people at support groups, work, & I met both my exes & current girlfriend on online forums.

My wife typically meets them first, then I tag along with her if she thinks I'll like them. Lazy, I know.
