What should I do at family gatherings if they are relatives I don't know well?

Are there any family gatherings coming up that you may go to?

Try talking to family and express how uncomfortable you could feel in such situations. If they reject your concerns (for example, they could think you could be using you being on the spectrum as a way to get out of going), keep expressing your concerns until you get a sense of their understanding.

Don't talk to them much or spend much time with them unless they start talking to you. That's how I am with everyone offline including my parents except I love spending time with my girlfriend.
