This is sort of an add-on to a post I made just a little while ago tonight, about an upcoming move to a new apartment. I currently live in a trailer, but this week I'm moving to an apartment. I've lived that way before, and know that you can sometimes hear the neighbors, and sometimes they can hear you. Fortunately, my new apartment is in a one story building, so there won't be anyone over me. I think noises from an overhead neighbor would be harder to deal with, than sounds from side neighbors. Anyway, I like to listen to the radio, and to online TV, movies, radio, and podcasts, and sometimes the sounds can get a little loud. I don't want to bother the neighbors, so I want to buy a good, but inexpensive pair of over-the-ear headphones, and would welcome suggestions from fellow WPers.

Although I do have some sound sensitivities, I am not as extreme that way as are many others on the autism spectrum, so I don't really need the sound canceling feature. I don't want in-ear headphones. I've worn in-ear plugs at noisy places where I've worked, when I was still able to work, and they make my ears uncomfortable. I've used sponge headphones that sit on the ears, but don't really go over them, but had problems with those. The sponge is attached to plastic on the other side, and my skin sensitivities cause me to feel the edges of the plastic even thru the sponge, and it hurts. My skin sensitivities cause me more problems than my sound sensitivities. I find that an industrial fan helps me deal with sound issues when I'm sleeping. It won't eliminate all of the sounds, but it does muffle them, and the sounds also get blended into the sound of the fan, making them rather indistinct, so I can sleep thru most external sounds when using a decent industrial fan. This coping method has the added benefit of helping me to keep cool on hot days, but I also use it on low in the winter, and aim it up at the ceiling then, instead of at me, so it won't chill me down then.

Anyone knowing of some good, but inexpensive headphones, please feel free to post a reply about them.
