"encourage" has a positive connotation.

Sometimes it is not clear if something is positive or negative

Someone "encouraged," me to volunteer work

Volunteer :roll: for whom doing what :roll:

Volunteering for Autism Speaks sounds like a good thing. But it could be a bad thing

Encouragement, in general, is a positive term.

If one ENCOURAGES someone to do a negative thing, though----then "encouragement" acquires a negative connotation.

As I understand it, autism speaks does more to hurt people than help them. The videos tend to treat autism like this horrible demonic presence that serves only to destroy the lives of people around the aitistic person in question. I haven't heard anything positive about it. I wonder if there are more positive organizations out there that actually do try to help.
